PBEM Services

Dice Server - Beta

This service is in beta. It has not been proven to be reliable yet and probably does not scale well, so please do not advertise this widely yet until the beta testing is over and the service is officially announced.

To use the Consimnet dice server, just send email to dice@mccanns-online.com (This will become dice@consimnet.com at some point). It can contain plain text along w/ instructions for what dice to roll in the commonly used "2d6" dice specification format in square brackets. It accepts any of the platonic solid shaped dice - d4, d6, d8, d12 and d20 - along with d10.

Copies of the dice roll results will be sent to the sender as well as anyone the mail is sent to (currently, no copy is sent to anyone cc'ed on the email).

Simple Example of Dice Server Email

Here is an example of a dice server request email:

War at Sea turn 1 Mediterranean Axis LBA

attack Repulse [d6]
damage Repulse [d6]

attack Ramillies [d6]
damage Ramillies [d6]

attack Revenge [d6]
damage Revenge [d6]

The reply from this request will look like this:
War at Sea turn 1 Mediterranean Axis LBA

attack Repulse [2]
damage Repulse [2]

attack Ramillies [5]
damage Ramillies [1]

attack Revenge [4]
damage Revenge [6]

Detailed explanation

The dice specs can look like this: [2x3d6+4]. This means 2 separate rolls of 3 6-sided dice, with 4 added to each roll. The 2x is optional, with 1x (a single roll) being the default. The 3 is optional, again, the default is 1. The +4 is optional, with a default of 0. It is necessary to have d followed by 4, 6, 8, 10, 12 or 20.

There can be only one "[" "]" pair containing dice specs per line

You may not use the characters "[" or "]" other than in dice specs.
